The Practice
Advisors who measure outcomes in decades
A small, senior team with no junior intermediaries between the client and the decision-maker.
Meet the team
Seniority is the service
Every engagement is staffed by advisors who have personally navigated the structures they recommend — not analysts who have studied them.
The Co was founded on a single conviction: that the most consequential wealth decisions deserve the most experienced attention. At larger institutions, clients of significant but not ultra-high net worth are routinely handled by junior relationship managers whose understanding of structural complexity is limited. We built a deliberately small practice — five senior advisors and two specialist associates — where every client has direct access to the principal who will sign off on their strategy. Our team's backgrounds span actuarial science, private banking in Vienna and Zürich, Slovak and Czech commercial law, and institutional asset management. This breadth is not accidental: capital protection at the level we practice it requires fluency across disciplines that are normally siloed.
The team
Each advisor brings a distinct specialism; together they cover every dimension of a protection mandate.
Tomáš Blaho — Managing Principal
Tomáš founded The Co after eighteen years in private banking, latterly as head of structured solutions for Central European clients at a Zürich-based institution. He leads all multi-jurisdictional mandates and chairs every annual strategy review. His focus is on ownership architecture and cross-border succession planning.
Katarína Slobodová — Insurance & Wrapper Specialist
Katarína spent twelve years on the institutional side of the life-insurance market in Bratislava and Vienna before joining The Co. She holds actuarial qualifications from the Slovak Society of Actuaries and leads all insurance wrapper engagements from product selection through to annual policy review.
Ondrej Mináč — Risk & Portfolio Overlay
Ondrej brings fifteen years of institutional risk management experience, including a decade at an Austrian asset manager where he oversaw tail-risk hedging for a €1.4 billion multi-asset book. He designs the risk overlay frameworks and conducts all stress-testing work for client portfolios.
Eva Chovancová — Succession & Governance
Eva is a qualified Slovak notary who transitioned to advisory after a decade in practice. She drafts and reviews all family governance documents, coordinates with external legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions, and leads client workshops on succession readiness. She is the firm's primary contact for clients navigating business succession alongside personal estate planning.
On working with the team
“What struck me immediately was that Tomáš himself attended every single one of our working sessions — not a junior analyst with a slide deck. By the third meeting he knew the details of our family's asset composition better than I did. That level of personal engagement from a principal is genuinely rare in this sector.”

Fiduciary commitment in writing
Every engagement letter contains a formal fiduciary declaration — not a marketing claim, but a contractual standard.
The Co operates under a self-imposed fiduciary standard that exceeds what Slovak financial regulation currently requires. Every engagement letter includes an explicit written declaration that the advisor's duty is to the client's long-term capital preservation objective, and that no recommendation will be made where a conflict of interest — however indirect — has not been disclosed and consented to in writing. This is not a boilerplate clause: it is the operational principle around which the practice was designed. Clients receive a copy of all disclosures, all fees, and all third-party relationships at the start of the engagement and whenever anything material changes. The charcoal-gold standard we hold ourselves to is one of absolute transparency: dark certainty on the structural side, and gilt-edged clarity on every obligation we ask a client to enter.
